soft purple crocus
so delicate and hopeful
amidst dead, dry grass
the dry green sage
leads us to the dense forest, the
power of the falls
cry of the crickets
soft calls of the dove when the
shutter opens wide
the absence of wind
beckons me into the deep
water without waves
a row of pine cones
stand witness below the names
of a timeless loss
