Hey there, friends!
Unleash is thrilled to be here on Substack, and we’re kicking things off officially with our first contributor post on June 1st.
The Unleash Lit blog is a platform that will support writers by offering candid thoughts about the writing life, highlighting those doing incredible things in the community, and creating opportunities for connection. In our first few months, we will be featuring writing prompts, writing advice, personal accounts, interviews, photography, art, and more.
We are here to keep you inspired, while also reminding you that there are others out there facing similar struggles.
While we plan to keep our blog open to free subscribers, we do invite paid subscriptions if you come to enjoy our content. This will support all our efforts in the literary community. Go to unleashlit.com for more information about all we’re doing (hint: almost everything).
By fall, our goal is to move more of our literary presence here. Starting with Issue V of Unleash Lit, you’ll also find poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction on our pages — work that will take you places and leave you forever changed. I’ve been writing a blog here on Substack for a few months now. And it feels different than other social platforms. It feels more intentional, more clear-headed, and more artist-focused. (Also, Wix is somewhat limited in our ability to highlight artists and photographers, which we’d like to do more of … so here we are.) And we’d love to hear YOUR words.
A note for writers, artists, and photographers interested in submitting:
If you’re interested in submitting work for the blog, we accept submissions of up to 400 words here for consideration. If you are interested in submitting creative work, we accept pieces of up to 5 poems or 2,000 words of prose.
Please just keep in mind that our readership is primarily writers and artists. These posts and pieces may be thought of as offerings to other creatives. Come from a place of generosity and community. Come from a place of authenticity and breaking barriers. Come from a place of experimentation and courage.
We also invite you to engage by leaving comments, connecting with fellow authors, and letting us know what you think or what you’d like to see more of. Our first guest post will arrive here on the 3rd, and we plan to post twice weekly after that. Let’s see what we can do together!
