We recently announced our WORK-IN-PROGRESS finalist list here.

As a token of gratitude to subscribers and contributions to Unleash, we’d love for you to join us in a Creative Resilience circle on February 5th from 4-5 ET. This is a free event made possible due to supporters of and .

This time, we will operate more like a workshop, which will be led by guest teacher Linda Button, who suggested the idea in our last circle (hint, hint … nudge, nudge - we’d love to highlight your wisdom, too).

Humor us and imagine your inner critic as a character and doing a little interview with them. Try asking it the following questions:

  1. What does this person/thing/monster dream about?

  2. Where does it live?

  3. Fears?

  4. Favorite color?

  5. Favorite song?

  6. Does it believe in ghosts?

  7. Does it believe that singularity is inevitable?

  8. Who does it look up to?

  9. Favorite holiday?

  10. Does it believe world peace is possible?

  11. Does it have a day job?

  12. What does it do on weekends?

  13. Why does it pick on you?

Now, imagine this was a job interview. Would you hire this inner critic?

Clean sheets are awesome. Crisp white cotton stretched tightly over feathery softness? It feels great. It feels new. Best. Sleep. Ever. Right?!

Clean sheet redesign is actually a thing in the business world. It is a method of rethinking problems that stand in the way of efficiency or productivity through imagining what things may look like free of the current restraints. Kind of like putting clean sheets on the bed.

This same thinking can be applied to creativity blocks. Instead of obsessing over how to get through the block, what if you looked at creative blocks as clean sheets of paper? Reinvent that creative block and make it work for you instead.

Looking for some inspiration? Look no further! Try your hand at these ten writing/art prompts:

  1. Find 5-6 kind or encouraging letters, cards, or emails you’ve received, and make them into a collage to frame.

  2. Choose the setting of your favorite novel. Write a tourist guide based on that place.

  3. Write an obituary for Satan.

  4. “She got kicked out of the hospice.”

  5. When grocery shopping , choose a product and see if you can write an advertisement for it in 50 words or less.

  6. A social media influencer who takes things too far.

  7. Write a book review for a book you really didn’t enjoy.

  8. The nude art model who didn’t get the job.

  9. Create a character based upon your favorite (or least favorite!) word.

  10. You find a camera that takes pictures of the future.
